Fashion
Electronics, textiles, design. The creative and technological possibilities in clothing are endless. We showcased several talented people creating interesting things in New Zealand.
Speaker 1: Mikayla Stokes
Mikayla is a Mechatronics Engineering student who loves making wearable electronics projects in her spare time. She has created a LED lightup dress and is currently working on a version controllable with her smartphone.
Mikayla is passionate about showing teenage girls the innovation and creativity behind STEM, and last year co-founded the organisation TechGirlsNZ, which runs hands on events to encourage girls to pursue careers in STEM. She is the 2 time overall female winner of the invention competition BrightSparks, and the STEM winner of the 2018 Girlboss awards.
Speaker 2: Ang Nayyar, CEO & Cofounder of StrutFit
Ang Nayyar is CEO & Cofounder of StrutFit, a computer vision and AI size recommendation technology for footwear retailers. The same person will be different sizes across different brands and styles. StrutFit makes sure they get the right size for that particular product.
Speaker 3: Devrath Soni, Founder of Devonché
Devrath Soni believes multiple factors contribute to someone's success. One of these factors is first impressions. His company Devonché helps people look their best by giving them suits and other formalwear made just for them, that complement their individuality and fit them like a second skin.
